W.i.P. Wednesday #17

Well, it's only my 17th week of WiP Wednesday, but it's Lee's anniversary! So make sure to check out her blog to see some special deicated WiP Participants, as well as enter a giveaway! :) Fun!

Again I'm super excited to report on some progress!!!

First though I have to share my new favorite finish! (I will be overly surprised if these people read my blog, so I am posting this now and crossing my fingers that I am right.)  ;)
A few months ago the former Bishop of our ward was released and someone else put in. The ladies decided to make a memory quilt for him. All of the families received a 7" quilt square to decorate however they wanted to. I decided to piece something....

This was my first real HST block and I LOVED it!!! It was super quick to put together, and I love how it turned out. I quilted it to the square I received to hold it together better, as I'm sure the final quilt will be tied, not quilted. I really botched it when I tried to stitch our last name in it though. Oh well.

I decided to write our first names with a sharpie, which I like much better.

another finish, check out my Little Quilt - Sew, Vote, Swap quilt here!

Now on to projects:

****************  Alisha, skip this part! ;)  **************

I am getting super close to finishing up Mikaela's quilt! Check this out!!!

It is so much fun! But I am STUMPED on how to bind it! Any suggestions? I was thinking a grey binding with splashes of color on each side, but I really don't want to do grey on such a bright quilt. I'm thinking maybe just something random...

otherwise that's about it right now... I just need to finish things!! :)

Anyway, I also am going to participate in the Christmas themed swap. Check out my post here if you didn't above. So FUN! I have my idea for it, so once I finish the quilt I'll whip it out. I also have a lot of blocks to make for do.Good Stitches as well as for the 3x6 Bee that I'm in this quarter (so excited for this!!).

  2. What about a plain black binding? Black makes colors POP so awesomely, as I'm seeing while working on my Listen With Your Eyes.

  4. How about a rainbow striped binding? It will be really fun if cut on the bias. I love the colors in your HST block too, so cheery!

  5. I would have to agree and say that plain black binding would look really great! I think if you go with too busy of a pattern it may just get lost or muddle up the edges of the quilt. I think a solid grey though would be a great choice as well.

  6. Wow, Diane, that's so beautiful! I'd either go with plain black or plain white with splashes of rainbow for the binding.

  7. I would put a black and white striped binding. That or a solid black. Something really sharp contrast will frame it up nicely.

  8. I actually like the idea of a gray binding on your super colorful quilt - that's what I did on my warm/cool rainbow quilt, and I like the way it sets off all the bright colors. Black would be another good choice, too! Good luck deciding, that's one beautiful quilt and I'm sure whatever you choose, it will be gorgeous!

  12. Oh, I really like the quilt you are making for Mikaela! The colors are so rich... how to bind it? Maybe with a favorite color? But at the same time I think scrappy would be awesome to... or something with polka dots!! Happy sewing!

  15. I'm of the opinion that you can never go wrong with a striped binding. How about black and white?

  16. Another thing I've not tried yet is making the squares with the triangles. Mikaela's quilt looks great! (sorry if I didn't spell that right.)

  17. The colorful quilt is lovely - so bright and happy. I know you don't like the solid grey but I actually think it will look fantastic - gery has a way to make other colors pop.

  18. Beautiful quilt! How about a black and white binding? Black with white polka dots? Or maybe just leftover strips.

  21. I love the rainbow quilt. Someday I will make one. What about a striped binding?

  22. Rainbows! I love rainbows! And yours are framed!

Is there a white border around it? If so, I'd go with multicoloured binding from scrap strips left over from the blcks. Otherwise, I'd go with a white binding.

And there's definitely something in the air about pinwheels right now! Love the blocks!

  23. I think you should bind it in gray, that would be so great, or do a scrappy rainbow binding with all the leftover fabric!
