Today is Giveaway Day! Wahoo! I love these Sew, Mama, Sew days! I think they are a lot of fun! Though I always have a hard time trying to figure out what to giveaway. I decided to do two giveaways while rummaging through my stash... you can find the other giveaway here.
So for today's giveaway I am offering
one charm pack of these 21 Michael Miller Clown fabrics!
(5" squares cut from my stash)
These are another collection I've had in my stash for a while. I think the favorite thing I've used them for so far was making some wonky stars for the do.Good Stitches group I was in earlier this year. These are so much fun! I definitely have a quilt planned with these, but have yet to get to them.

That's a tough question for me. I'll have to think about it and get back to you. ;) There are a lot of good memories! I guess mostly they involve lots of family, good food, and just being together and being happy. :) Ok, that's non-specific. I'll keep thinking!
I was past due with the sixth baby and all my other kids were at the in-laws and I wasn't able to travel to see my babes. My in-laws, mother, sister and aunt loaded up their vehicles and brought the kids, gifts and Christmas dinner up to our house for the day to celebrate Christmas.

We played games, ate good food and enjoyed each other. Sometimes more people (and all the tension adult family brings) isn't always better!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite meory is our cross-country trips from NC to KS to see grandparents back before there were interstates the whole way. I loved seeing the small towns and the big cities and all the Christmas decorations!

ReplyDeleteMy dad plays Santa for the neighborhood kids and a few years ago one of them afterwards told his mom that he found out a secret. He was convinced that my dad was Santa who spends the rest of the year not at the North Pole but in our little village. He has been very respectful to my dad ever since.

ReplyDeleteI was pretty excited one year when I got this super sweet bike. It was a banana seat, light purple frame, streamers, and it had a unicorn on the seat. I think I squealed when I got it. I rode that thing every day I could. I would even try to do tricks with home made ramps in our driveway...I'm really surprised I didn't get seriously injured. This was way before helmets and pads were common.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite Christmas memory was when I was little my four brothers would spend the night coming into my room wondering when we would be able to get up for Christmas. We didn't get much then but they were so excited. When my two boys came along we had to wake them up every Christmas. Now we get so much that we sometimes forget the true meaning of Christmas.

ReplyDeleteAs a military child, we were in a new place almost every Christmas. The day after Thanksgiving, we would go down to my father's submarine and decorate the galley (Kitchen and dining room) with a tiny tree and lights. One year, a bunch of boys (sailors) helped make paper garland to hang up as well. We stayed for hours and had lots of help. They all broke out the cards and hot chocolate and we had ourselves a wonderful Christmas time celebration, hundreds of miles from all of their homes.
ReplyDeleteI think my favorite memory is waking up on Christmas morning with Christmas music playing and seeing that "Santa" had come!
ReplyDeleteMy sister and I both got dolls that stood as tall as we were - it was amazing!

The last few Christmases my two older kids aren't always home, so I've so enjoyed spending time with my niece and nephews. And our new tradition is doing a jigsaw puzzle over the two days of Christmas and Boxing Day. Last year I was told I was "the fun auntie"! That's a great memory!

One of my favorite gifts was the last year my kids were home as "kids". My daughter and son went and had several pictures taken, different poses and had them all framed in a beautiful big frame. This was the last Christmas I would have both kids home. The following year my son joined the US Marine Corps.

ReplyDeleteOh that's a toss up but I think I will go with Christmases spent at my Grandma's house, we have a very large family on that side so we'd cram 30 or 40 people into her place and just have a lot of fun, my uncles were a riot and they'd do crazy stuff to us kids (Like hang us upside down by our socks on the coat rack hooks :D)
ReplyDeleteI'm Jewish, so I don't have one. However, my favorite Hannukah memory is when my oldest was able to light the candles for the first time. She was so proud of herself.

ReplyDeleteSnow on Christmas! That doesn't happen too often here in south Louisiana!
ReplyDeleteOne year we had a very very cold Christmas, but not too much snow, so we cleaned off the pond so that we could all go skating. On Christmas Eve we put a lantern in the middle and had a magical time skating in the dark with a bonfire and hot chocolate. Even now, many years later, my very grown up children remember that night with such pleasure. Every year we hope to be able to do it again, but there's always too much snow.
ReplyDeleteOne of my most special Christmas memories was being an Aussie in Finland at Christmas time. Having a white Christmas was magical.

ReplyDeleteSitting in my grandmother's lap after Christmas lunch which she would make with so much love every year, I can still feel her arms around me and how safe and loved I felt snuggled into her. ReplyDeleteDigging tentatively through the delicious fruit pudding for tiny silver thripenny bits and sixpences that my grandmother included as per our traditional family pudding recipe. This dish provided a mixture of trepidation and great fun as we children ate with great care our portion that had been liberally doused with brandy sauce..still not sure if it was a substitute or real brandy but it tasted delicious and we had great fun.

Going up north to visit my cousins when I was little. We had so much fun.
ReplyDeleteI have so many wonderful Christmas memories that it really is hard to choose just one. I know at the top of my list is when my three boys were little. I just loved Christmas morning each year when they were very small because they got SO excited to open presents. Little kids are just adorable to watch on Christmas and make all the rushing around to all the stores worth the trouble in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteI have a lot of Christmas memories.. one time we went out in the country and let my kids pick a tree to cut.. the fun of having to arrange the tree to get it in the house, then getting it to stand in the tree stand.. and finally tying it with fishing line to the ceiling.. thank you for the chance to win some pretty fabrics.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite memory was getting a bride doll when I was 7.

ReplyDeletei love each Christas morning watching the kids open their gifts...ill never forget the year i opened the Barbie RV...i was *sure* Santa existed bc my parents wouldnt buyit for me!!
ReplyDeleteWhen I was twelve. My parents always wrapped the gifts and put them under the tree before Christmas. That year they left the six of us home while they went shopping. We got all the presents out and lined them up and counted and compared sizes of each gift. The only box with my name on it was a used Christmas card box not even wrapped but taped shut. I pried the tape up and looked inside. One pair of white cotton underpants. That was it. All the other kids had at least three nicely wrapped gifts. I thought I must have been really bad that year. I cried and cried. On Christmas morning I wouldn't even get up and go downstairs. My dad finally hauled me down there and in front of the tree was a beautiful full size red bike. I never peeked at my gifts again.
