New Pattern: DUSK + a Giveaway!!

Hi Everyone! How is everyone? I hope you're well! Ever since school started at the beginning of this month, things have been non-stop! I'm finally starting to feel like I am finding a little time to relax, and it's so nice!

I want to let you know about a new pattern that I released this week! It's called Dusk!

I think it was the beginning of this year, that Leila contacted me about creating a pattern for her. She sent me a photo of a paper art star that her friend made. It was beautiful! and a new challenge since it was a 9 pointed star! I'm not sure there are very many patterns out there with 9 pointed stars. Maybe there are...?

I originally came up with this design,

 A black and white mock up! I really love this!

 

I created a fabric version in this color scheme that I am super pleased with!

Except that there are WAY to many points that meat in the center!! 

27 to be exact!!

 

That is a LOT of bulk to deal with.

And actually, I still haven't gotten past this point. It's hanging on my wall with a bulging center. lol. ;) I'm still debating what I even want to do with it. 

Anyway, I knew I needed to simplify things a little. I created a few different drafts and ran them past Leila and Carla, and finally came up with two that we liked! I still need to polish off the second design, but I'm so happy with this first one!!

I decided to create a color wheel with it - which the color placement isn't perfect. I'm hoping to talk about that more in a later post.  But it sure was fun watching it come together!

The pattern looks complex, but it's actually really quick and easy! It makes up faster than my Celestial Star block, if you can believe that! (ok, maybe that's easy to believe. That is a block that has a lot of pieces to it!)

The pattern includes two different finished size blocks: 18 inch and 24 inch. Both sizes are included in the pattern, so you don't have to worry about which size you want. :)
