I remember a while ago when I was having a giveaway, and people were having problems commenting on my blog. Is that still the case? Anyway, we are back home from our awesome vacation!!! I had such a blast! It was hard to leave, but it's always nice to be home.

Now that we are home, it is hitting me hard that summer is almost over! Hunter starts kindergarten in two weeks, Jackson starts preschool the beginning of September. I spent the whole morning making eye appointments, and dentist appointments, filling out registration forms, and...

I finally bought my plane ticket to go to the Sewing Summit in September!!! It is now officially official!! I  am so excited! Now to get my class planning finished and polished off! I'm so nervous, but excited! They posted the class schedule yesterday along with the class descriptions. You can check it out HERE.  I'm excited to see who wants to/will be taking my class. I'd love to know what questions everyone has so I can be sure to cover them. :) Eek!

Sewing Summit 2013!

Are you planning on attending Sewing Summit this year? I went last year and had a BLAST! It was so wonderful to get together with hundreds of other gals (and a few guys) who love to sew, quilt, learn, and just have a good time! The classes were great, the food was good. Nothing to complain about. ;)

Well, I HOPE you are coming! I will definitely be there. I know, because....

I'M TEACHING!!!

ahhh! I am SOOO excited! I have been dying to tell anyone ever since I found out. I'll be teaching "Creating Paper Pieced Patterns". Last year at Sewing Summit, and before and since then, I've had people ask me questions about different aspects of creating paper piecing patterns. I had so much fun at Sewing Summit last year, and LOVE to teach and help people, that I knew then that I wanted to try and teach a class this year. Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that I am more than excited. (and nervous) I hope you'll want to come join me in my class!! And I look forward to hearing feedback as to any specific questions you have, or specifics that you'd like to learn when it comes to creating your own paper piecing pattern. I'm all ears! (and I'm super excited to help everyone create their own pattern that they can make into a quilt block, or whatever, that weekend! :)

Be sure to check out the Sewing Summit website if you haven't already to see who the other amazing teachers are. I am excited to see who the rest of them will be as well (they have only announced some of them so far). I feel a little out of place with such talented people, but definitely look forward to the experience. :) It's going to be another awesome year I'm sure!!

The Charming Travelers are at it again!

Otherwise, I am busy busy trying to get ready to leave!! I will be *hopefully* going to bed early tonight so I can wake up at 3 to go to the airport in the morning. yikes. But I am SO excited. I'm not sure what I'm going to do exactly once I get there... not sure if my mom is going to come hang out with me for a few hours or not, so if you are going, you might see me snoozing on a couch, or just walking around, or most likely I'll be eating. I know I have at least a few stops to make: Sigfrieds, Harmon's (chocolate covered cinnamon bears, Stephen's Irish Creme hot chocolate - hoping they are making that flavor this year. sometimes I can't find it, but it is yummy!) and the temple. If you see me, be sure to stop me and say hi! :) I'm afraid I'm not going to know who anyone is!



Oh, and a quick update. If I owe you something in the mail... I'm sorry I am so behind on sending stuff out! I literally have a huge pile of things to send. Maybe I'll get them out today... but I don't know. All packages are basically ready, with an extra goody or so to make up for my tardiness, and they will be in the mail for sure next week!!! I promise!! Again, I am sorry. If I haven't already contacted you about it, please contact me and remind me, just so I don't forget anything.

from blank pages... a linky party #7

If you're new to these parts, I recently started a linky party for everyone to share their project beginnings, or re-beginnings! It can be anything that includes and shares the start of any project. What inspired you, your pile of fabric, who it's for, what it's all about, or a cry for help in some of the deciding factors. It's actually a pretty broad topic, so I hope you will share your projects with us! :) I'm sure there's a lot of new starts going on right now...  the linky is open each and every Thursday! I know I get pretty excited about starting new projects! Hence my overwhelming pile of WiP's. heehee.


Today I want to share with you something I started but then got totally stuck on... a new pattern. I think I mentioned Denise's quilt and how I love it. It inspired me to do my own Lou Lou Thi quilt, but the pattern is not working as well as I'd liked. I know I need to add some solids in there, but for some reason I am totally dragging my feet. 

I'm thinking that on every "star" or 4 blocks, I'll alternate the rings in prints and solids. I need to just go ahead and try it. hopefully soon.

I am also doing a swap with Tiffany. SUPER excited! We have both had quite the journey trying to figure out if we'd be able to go to the Sewing Summit or not, and happily we both are! Yeah! Instead of doing the other swaps we decided to just do one together. We did make mosaics for each other, and decided to just make whatever we are inspired to make.

Here is Tiffany's mosaic... I think I know exactly what I want to make for her, but I've still got my thinking cap on. No giving away anything here! ;)

I've also got a list of blog commitments that I have not forgotten about. Things have been so busy here and in real life lately that I feel awful that I've let these people wait around so long... SORRY!!! I haven't forgotten you! Here's my list:

• Tutorial: for putting in zippers to the cash envelope pockets
• Tutorial: Giant Granny Quilt
• earlier in the year someone asked me to draft them a paper piecing pattern for fairy's. I can't find your email. If it was you, will you email me again! 
• Tutorial: for the simple weave pattern. I mentioned sharing this with you during the Winterkist blog hop. I haven't forgotten this and am actually doing this design in a project right now, so I will probably have this up first. 
• Candy land quilt

I think that's all I can remember. If you are waiting on some help for something or a project from me, will you let me know! I may be slow, but I will get there! I promise! :)  I'm just horrible at sticking to a schedule. Marika mentioned yesterday about having too many projects that you get so overwhelmed and can't seem to do anything. I get like that, but instead of just working on what's on my list, I tend to start something brand new or work on something totally random. It doesn't help. lol. ;)

I am hoping that listing my blog commitments here, will help me finally get to all of them! Just keep bugging me if I don't! :)

YES!!! I will be at the Sewing Summit!!!!!!! WAHOO!!! I talked to my hubby this morning, and he told me a much better way to approach my dad. My dad flies A LOT and has a lot of miles. Plus he is the best dad ever!!! Neil just said to ask if he'd donate some for me. :) I have the best hubby ever!!!

So forget this mornings post. But know that I am going to be the happiest girl there. lol. :) I can't wait to finally meet all of you!! :)

SEWING SUMMIT!!!

It's official! I am signed up! I'm going! Wahoo!! :)

Though I am SO dumb... I was stalking the registration page all morning. Was there right on the dot at 9:00, ready to use the coupon code, read the instructions for using the coupon code (before 9:00), and then blew right past where I was supposed to click. I totally missed out on the first 50 discount. doh. Kind of kicking myself right now. :/

Anyway, WAHOO! So who else is going??? Are you going to be there??? I totally want to meet all of you. :D

Sewing Summit 2012!

Yippy! My hubby just said I could go!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D The details aren't even out yet, but I am so excited! :) Especially since I've been getting to know so many other people lately on blogs and flickr! I hope you can  make it too! ;)
