Have you been coloring??

I received the best email the other morning! Mareika from Germany emailed me some pictures she's been coloring! She is just starting out with paper piecing, and I always love to hear when others have a good experience with paper piecing, as I obviously really enjoy it! and of course I want others to as well. :)

She colored my 70's Geese pattern, and I think these are just amazing!!

Here she put 4 pages together to create an 8 x 8 block repeat. Very cool!!

I can't believe the month is almost over!! I am working on a few goodies as prizes for the Coloring Contest, so I hope you'll join in! (The odds are pretty stinking good right now.... just saying.) ;)

How about these rainbow colored pencils??

Rainbow pencils
I'll make them into a pouch or a mug rug, winners request.

I am SO excited right now!! I just finished up my new from blank pages... Patterns Coloring Books! Yep! There are 2! I've been wanting to put these together for over a year now, and I'm so happy to finally have them published and available for everyone for free! (click on links to download from Craftsy)

Contains over 30 pages and 13 different patterns!

 (7) Name: 'Quilting : from blank pages Pattern Coloring Book 2
Contains 28 pages and 11 different patterns!

Most patterns have a variety of design options and layouts. There are even coloring layouts that aren't included in some of my patterns! The only patterns that aren't included in the coloring books are my alphabets. Maybe I could do a separate one for them?!

It's also the perfect timing for the second half of my Birthday Month Celebration! Want to know what we're going to do?!

Modern Mini Quilt Challenge: Rainbow Lake

I don't know if you've heard about the Modern Mini Quilt Challenge happening at Ellison Lane Quilts, but it's kind of a big deal. ;) The prizes are awesome, and it's been fun seeing all the mini's popping up all over blogland! Originally I wasn't going to enter, but after racing to finish a lot of swap items last week, I needed a time out to sew something for me! I whipped this out just in time! :)

I call it "Rainbow Lake"

I've had this idea in my head for a long time! Every time I'd look at the circle of geese mini's I'd always see the negative space as a fun playground for color! I was going for a blending effect of the colors, where the geese were "drifting" into the color in front of them, adding the next hue of color, leaving their ripples a one step down on the color spectrum. I was originally going to have the geese be the solid color, and use prints for the "ripples", but I couldn't resist working in just solids. I love the bold effect of it!

The quilting was fun too! It was so hard to sew on this... it was so crisp and bold, but I like how it came out in the end.

I added some simple straight line stitching around the border in red, orange, green and teal.

The quilt finishes up at 17.5" by 17.5"
The sashing is 2.5" wide
I used mostly all Konas, though a few colors are random fabrics I had in my stash
(I think some remnants I've collected from the fabric store over time).
I'm kind of amazed that I didn't have to go buy any fabrics to complete this, or thread for that matter!
I used the Circle of Geese pattern from Piece by Number.

There are loads of prizes:
2 random picks, 1 picked by Jennifer's hubby, and 2 that are viewer's choice! (crossing my fingers!! ;) I'll keep you updated if I need you to vote for me! lol - I can dream right?!) :D

American Crafters Round 1 Project

Today's the day to go vote over at Nap Time Crafters!!! :) Everyone votes for your 3 favorite projects, so if one of those just happens to be mine, that's fine with me! ;) Voting is open through Sunday.

It was kind of crazy trying to finish this project with a poor little boy who is not feeling too well. Jackson is such a needy boy at times. ;) But it was fun and I'm glad to be done! It's kind of intense having only 3 days from beginning to end (including actually coming up with an idea) to complete a project! But it was fun. I'm anxious and nervous to see what other amazing stuff people came up with!

So here are some pictures and details of what I did:

Meet the "Special Delivery Truck"

Here's my super corny description I wrote up for the details:

Don't just hand over your Valentine's Day card or chocolates or gift to your special someone, but deliver them in style with this "Special Delivery Truck". Measures approximately 8 inches tall by 12.5 inches long. The back opens up and has more than enough room to deliver whatever special items you want to share with your loved one. Filled with 100% Polyester Fiberfill, this truck delivers nothing but softness. With children around, it's sure to be enjoyed long after that special day is over. Deliver your love all year long. :)

Can I just tell you, Hunter had already adopted and taken over this truck before I could even finish it. His favorite thing to put in it so far? His Little People tractor. He wasn't so happy after I put the button on since he has a harder time opening it now. But he's already toted it all over the house.

Three days isn't a lot of time to fix mistakes, so it's not exactly how I had hoped it would turn out, but it works. So I would do it a little bit different if I were going to make another one (probably not). But it's fun. :)

Last night Neil told me I should be an squirmy truck driver in the window. lol. Perhaps I will need to add a few more details. ;)

Anyway, the top 10 move on to next week, and I think I would love to move on, but I'd also be totally fine to not. ;) It's kind of crazy. Love the other projects too! So good luck to everyone! And thanks again for this great opportunity!!! :)

So go vote!!

Voting is now over, but I am linking this project up to the linky parties this week! :) Check my side bar, or come back later (I'm going to create a little button list at the bottom of my posts so you can see right there where I linked to.)

I'm a contestant on American Crafters!! :)

This morning when I was checking my email I received an exciting surprise! :) Amy from Nap Time Crafters had sent me an email letting me know that I was picked to be one of the 15 contestants for the American Crafters Contest! Yippy! :) How exciting!

There will be a few different rounds, where the judges are YOU! There are judges who will add commentary on each entry, but ultimately, the readers are the ones who pick their favorites. Each week you will pick your favorite three projects and then I'm not sure how many will continue on to the next round. Anyway... This weeks theme is:

Oh, I am racking my brain. What to do?!

I have to submit my project by Thursday, and then all the projects will be posted on Friday and voting continues until Sunday. So PLEASE be sure to stop by and vote for your favorites!!! :) (and it's ok if you don't necessarily vote for mine. Just whoever's is the best.) :)

I will post my project on my blog too, so be sure to check back and see how it goes. :) Thanks Amy! :)
