Announcing the 7th Annual Birthday Celebration!!

You're Invited!

7th Annual Birthday Celebration
Date: Monday April 30th - May 5th

For the past 6 years I've done some kind of celebrations sale, giveaway, something fun, to pass some awesome deals onto you for my birthday. This year I kind of spaced it as we were all wrapped up in anticipation for the arrival of our new little baby (which I need to blog about!). But even though the celebration is a little delayed, I'm still just as excited to share with you.

This year I turned 36. We also had our 6th child, so I wanted to somehow tie in those numbers to the celebration. Here's what I came up with:

Everyday for 6 days I am putting 3 different patterns, or collections, on sale! The individual patterns will be on sale for 1 DAY ONLY! And the prices will be discounted to a whopping 50% OFF!! No coupon necessary.

If you've been around long enough, you know I NEVER do discounts that steep, and I'm not sure I'll ever do this again... which means if you've been eyeing some of my patterns, this will be the BEST time to scoop them up! (FYI).

"How is this party going to go down???" you ask?

Let me tell you!

Everyday a new set of 3 patterns will go on sale (prices will be discounted - no coupon necessary!). The sale will start at 12:01 am on the given day and end at 11:59 pm of the same day. Each day a different set of patterns will be on sale. And everyday will be s surprise!!

"What's the best way to make sure that I don't miss a day??"

After the day is over, the patterns that were on sale that day will not be on sale again (well, not for 50% OFF!) So you don't want to miss a single day!

The BEST way to make sure you don't miss a day is to become a Creative Explorer (aka sign up for my newsletter!). I will be sending out daily emails directly to your inbox with the days patterns! This is the best way to be notified because there is no messing around with algorithms, or playing the lotto with whether the social platform of your choice wants to show you my posts or not. You could also just visit my website each day, but you might forget... an email is the easiest way to receive the reminder and check out the patterns for that day.

You can sign up HERE!

(plus when you sign up you'll get an awesome birthday present for your birthday!)

I will also do a quick blog post each day to help direct you to the patterns that are on sale that day.

To make the celebration even better, I've put together this awesome fat quarter bundle to give away at the end of the sale!!

36 fat quarters for my 36th birthday!
(That's 9 yards of mostly all out of print fabrics!)

I pulled some of my favorite prints from some of my favorite designers, including Tula Pink, Anna Maria Horner, Lizzy House, Amy Butler, Sandi Henderson, Joel Dewberry, V and Co, Denyse Schmidt, and Heather Bailey.

As a thank you for participating in my sale, every pattern you purchase will give you one entry into the giveaway! (Entries are for items purchased, not by order. So you can purchase 3 patterns in one order and get 3 entries.)

I will tally all the purchases throughout the week and randomly draw one winner on Monday May 7th. I'll mail the package by the end of that week. Giveaway open worldwide!

I hope you'll come join me in the celebration!!

Don't forget to sign up for my newsletter to get your daily sales reminders. (Other than during the birthday celebration, I typically send out emails 1-4 times a month. So don't worry about getting too many spammy emails! Yuck!)

Have you been coloring??

I received the best email the other morning! Mareika from Germany emailed me some pictures she's been coloring! She is just starting out with paper piecing, and I always love to hear when others have a good experience with paper piecing, as I obviously really enjoy it! and of course I want others to as well. :)

She colored my 70's Geese pattern, and I think these are just amazing!!

Here she put 4 pages together to create an 8 x 8 block repeat. Very cool!!

I can't believe the month is almost over!! I am working on a few goodies as prizes for the Coloring Contest, so I hope you'll join in! (The odds are pretty stinking good right now.... just saying.) ;)

How about these rainbow colored pencils??

Rainbow pencils
I'll make them into a pouch or a mug rug, winners request.

from blank pages... Coloring Contest Starts NOW!!!

I am SO excited right now!! I just finished up my new from blank pages... Patterns Coloring Books! Yep! There are 2! I've been wanting to put these together for over a year now, and I'm so happy to finally have them published and available for everyone for free! (click on links to download from Craftsy)

 (7) Name: 'Quilting : from blank pages Pattern Coloring Book 1
Contains over 30 pages and 13 different patterns!

 (7) Name: 'Quilting : from blank pages Pattern Coloring Book 2
Contains 28 pages and 11 different patterns!

Most patterns have a variety of design options and layouts. There are even coloring layouts that aren't included in some of my patterns! The only patterns that aren't included in the coloring books are my alphabets. Maybe I could do a separate one for them?!

It's also the perfect timing for the second half of my Birthday Month Celebration! Want to know what we're going to do?!

New Pattern: Star Gazing!! + Giveaway!

I am SO excited to announce the release of my newest pattern, Star Gazing!! I've shared lots of progress shots and info of this pattern already (here), so I'll keep this minimal. But I want to share none-the-less. :)

Here is my 6 inch block that I made last night:

It is less than perfect. I don't usually piece this small, so we didn't really get along. I did learn a lot though, and I think if I make more this size, I'll be able to do a better job (like pressing seams open instead of to the side). Check out #fbpStarGazing to see the tester blocks and their progress shots, they are gorgeous!!!

Here are some of them:

Birthday Celebration Month: Everyone is a Winner!!

I was wondering if my idea for this months celebration was going to be a good one or not. It looks like I should come up with some other idea.... ;) Any suggestions? Do you want daily discounts again? or coupon codes? Some other kind of giveaway? Let me know! :)

But until I announce something different, EVERYONE who linked up their project (form found in this post) is a winner! I'll be emailing you sometime this weekend! :) I'll get some pictures together of upcoming patterns to send you so you can pick an unreleased pattern, or let me know what you want that is already published. :) Feel free to keep linking up your projects if you want to! :)

Here are the beautiful projects that were kindly shared with me! :) Thanks Ladies!! ;D

My Birthday is in March!! LET'S CELEBRATE!!

My birthday is coming up and I've been contemplating what I should do to celebrate! Last year I offered each of my patterns at discounted prices, one per day. That was fun! I've also done giveaways and coupons. And I can't remember what else, but I know every year it's been something different. I am kind of excited about my idea for this year, and I hope you'll play along!!

I feel like it might be a little selfish asking this, but it is my birthday after all, right?! :D Here's what I've got set up:

New Pattern Coming Soon! + Name That Pattern Giveaway!

I really needed a change of pace this week, so I pulled out an old pattern I'd made up a while ago. Well, I'm glad it sat for a while, because it definitely needed some fine tuning. I love those glimpses that let me see that my skills are indeed improving. ;) And because I get too excited about new patterns, and am horrible at keeping them a secret until they are complete, I've decided to walk you through this crazy set of similar, but different, patterns.

About this pattern:
  1. This pattern contains 5 different patterns
  2. The lines and design of each pattern are the SAME, but the layering is DIFFERENT
  3. All patterns are interchangeable and totally compatible with each other!
  4. You can make a 4 quadrant square design, OR make borders and other shapes depending on how you arrange the blocks. This is where I get in trouble... TOO many options!! (are options a bad thing??)
  5. I'll be including TONS of coloring pages.
  6. All patterns are labeled the same to eliminate confusion when combining patterns.

Now let me show you:

1. Here are the 5 different patterns. I've colored them all exactly the same to make it easier to see the differences.

Learn More Sew More with CraftyPlanner: LOVE

Good morning everyone!! (or afternoon, depending on where you are, I guess...) I am really excited to let you know that Sandi of CraftyPlanner has invited me to be a guest blogger as part of her Learn More Sew More challenge! This month she is covering Paper Piecing, which of course is my favorite method for quilting! :)
Hop on over and see my extensive tutorial for how to paper piece my LOVE letters! These are a great intro into any of my alphabet patterns. I share all my tips and tricks to make the process as easy and quick as possible.

AND, if you make at least one of the letters and share a picture of it on Instagram with the tag #LMSMpaperpiece, you will be entered to win a copy of My ABCs Complete (which includes the upper and lower case alphabet patterns) AND the Numbers and Punctuations pattern.

Be sure to tag your pictures with #fbpPatterns too, so I can see what you make! ;)

AND to go along with it, these are my first AND second finishes of the year! Wahoo! :) It feels good to finish something already. ;) I am really excited to use this cute little mug rug!

p.s. IF I were to go this square mug rug again, I'd leave off the spacer between the L and O. But that's ok, I still like it. :)

I hope you'll go check it out!!

3 New Patterns, 3 Coupons, and 3 Winners for a Giveaway!!

Hi there! I guess I have gone back to my old-non-blogging self. Sometimes I think, "if my life was only what I blogged about, I'd have a pretty boring life!" haha. Luckily it is not so. I am really excited to announce three new patterns that I've finished over the last few weeks!! Get  ready for picture overload! oh, and I have a 30% Off coupon for each new pattern (good only in my bigcartel shop), which is good until Saturday at midnight.

To save repeating myself, the patterns contain a lot of the same features. They all include:
  • Patterns for 3 different sizes of finished blocks: 6 inch, 9 inch, and 12 inch.
  • Cutting templates for each size
  • Instructions specifically for each pattern. (Paper piecing instructions not included, but I include helpful links in each pattern.)
  • Coloring pages. I included a bunch of different design layouts so you can plan just the block you want. :)

Here they are, in no particular order: (It'll be picture overload!!! But I hope you'll slow down and look at each one.) :) I also had amazing pattern testers help me with my patterns!! In an effort to not put too many pictures in one post, I'll save them for a different post. But I can't go without saying a HUGE thank you!! to each of them! They really helped me to smooth out the patterns!

Candy Wrappers

This is a fun versatile pattern with many options of how you can join the pattern to create different looks. Here are some mockups I made:

The block is created using an A pattern piece and a B pattern piece. When you use both A and B pattern pieces, here are the two blocks you can create, depending on how you orient them.

Here is a block you can create if you ONLY use the A pattern pieces.

Here is a block you can create if you ONLY use the B pattern pieces.

Here are some examples of these blocks on a four block repeat. These designs would make fabulous pillows, bags, minis, mug rugs, etc. which you can easily make with the 6 inch and 9 inch pattern sizes.

Here they are if you made 16 blocks into a quilt. :) I love these!

I used this pattern during the summer when I made a pillow as one of my Handmade Birthday club gifts. It was hard to send this away.

While I was putting this pillow together is when I discovered the different designs with the A and B pattern pieces. Here's a picture I took with my phone... I think I want to make this again. :)

I think these would even look good in a quilt of alternating blocks of these! Wouldn't that be fun?!

You can find the Candy Wrappers pattern in any of my shops (Craftsy and Etsy).

But, until Saturday night (11/8/14) you can save 30% OFF this pattern ONLY in my Bigcartel shop.
Use coupon code: SAVE30CANDYWRAPPERS

Starry Skyline

Maybe you recognize this pattern. I designed it for a Bee group on Flickr a few years ago. You can see the full tutorial for how to create it using HST's HERE. I LOVE this block, but I didn't really want to create a full quilt using that method. I finally turned it into a paper piecing pattern! AND I made a full quilt with it!!

My Halloween quilt! I was going to make it a fall quilt, and not use the orange. But my husband kindly reminded me that his favorite color is orange... so in it went! And I still think it'll be a fabulous fall quilt! :)
(there is one line that I REALLY messed up on, so I need to unpick it and fix it. So if you notice it... that is my own mistake and not how the pattern is.) ;)

This pattern is a bit more straight forward, so I'll just leave it at this quilt picture. But it sure is a fun one!

You can find the Starry Skyline pattern on Craftsy and Etsy

But, until Saturday night (11/8/14) you can save 30% OFF ONLY in my Bigcartel shop.

Winter Holly

This is my most recent finish, and I LOVE it!!! I want to make a full quilt of this pattern too! I used to think one would have to be totally crazy to paper piece an entire quilt, but after making my Celestial Star quilt, I either have become totally crazy, or I realize that it's not crazy at all. ;) haha.

I'll start with some pattern mockups:

Here are two designs you can create from one single block.

These also make fantastic repeat patterns! Here they are with 4 blocks:

And if you used 16 blocks to create a full quilt. Um, yes please!!!

This would be a gorgeous Christmas quilt!!! Or of course change up the colors, and it would simply be gorgeous!

While playing around I found this really neat secondary pattern... which also makes me see other patterns you could create by playing with value and color. :)

I am currently making a Christmas table runner that I am probably not going to put away after Christmas. ;) Here are the two styles I was debating on. My husband went out of town, so I haven't had time to finish it... maybe the kids can go to bed early tonight. ;)

These Cotton + Steel prints are perfect!!! I
'll use the two yellow prints in the top picture for the centers.

You can find the Winter Holly pattern in any of my shops (Craftsy and Etsy).

But, until Saturday night (11/8/14) you can save 30% OFF this pattern ONLY in my Bigcartel shop.
Use coupon code: SAVE30WINTERHOLLY

Alright, and that's it!! What do you think?! :)

I hope you enjoy them!

Giveaway!

Now how about a giveaway?! If you sat through all that, you've earned it. ;)

Use the rafflecopter below to enter. Three people will win a copy of all three patterns!! Can you tell this post is all about three's?! Three patterns, three winners, three coupons, three-ty (thirty, haha) percent off.  The giveaway will be open until Saturday night. Good luck!!
