Made It: Outreach Quilt

When I first started this blog back in 2010 (hard to believe it's been that long!!) I sorted all my posts with different labels in the titles of the post, like Made It - for things that I made, Fab Finds - for things I found that were awesome and wanted to share (this was before Pinterest), Our Story - for family posts, Photography - self explanatory, Sewing Basics,  etc. Last night as I was thinking about what I would blog about this month, I decided I wanted to bring those back. I probably won't use all the same ones, but I like the concept. (So here's a little introduction to why those will be in my titles - and it'll make it easy for you to filter through the posts you want to read and know what to expect as you do. What do you think about that?!)

Today we have our quilt guild meeting (North Star Quilters Guild), and we are turning in all the quilts that we've made in the last 6 months for the Outreach program. Outreach donates the quilts to foster kids in the area. (I love this!!)

Earlier this year the satellite group that I'm in, Modern Makers, made two charity quilts to donate. I quilted and bound one of them, and just finished it just in time! - like this week. Nothing like a deadline for good motivation to get something finished. ;)

Here's the quilt we made:

For the quilting I used the book Walking Foot Quilting Designs by Melissa Marginet (I met her when our guild went up to Winnipeg in May for our guild meeting - she's super nice!!) I love the book! There are so many great quilting ideas and instructions. And I love how the quilting fit the quilt. It's a great book if you want to check it out! Lots of designs you can do with the comfort of your walking foot - no FMQ! I love the possibilities!

Now to go get ready so I don't miss the meeting!! :)

Have a wonderful Saturday!!

Happy Quilting & Happy Creating!

#QuiltsForHarvey

After watching the devastation in Texas last weekend, which is still continuing, from Hurricane Harvey, I couldn't sit and do nothing any longer. If you follow me on Instagram and Facebook you've probably seen my posts.

After contacting many people and joining forces with Melinda (@mel_is_a_swapaholic), I wanted to create this blog post as a reference post for anyone who is looking for ways to donate to those affected by Harvey.

MONETARY DONATIONS

First I want to say that probably the most urgent thing they need right now, besides water, is money. Money to help provide the resources that are most needed for food and water, or to meet other needs.

Starting a few days ago, through this Sunday, Sept. 3rd, 100% of my pattern sales will be donated to those affected by Harvey! So hop over to my shop and grab some patterns while you donate to a good cause!!

If you are on Instagram, you can also check out #patternsforHarvey and check out the other designers who are donating their sales, or a percentage of their sales, to Harvey. Though I think some are today only, so pay attention to that.

You can also donate to the Red Cross or LDS Philanthropies, where 100% of the donations go to helping those in need. There are many other organizations you can donate to as well, but be sure to be careful to make sure that 100% of the donations truly go to the cause you are donating to!

FINISHED QUILTS

If you have finished quilts that you would like to donate, here are a few different places that are accepting quilts and will be delivering quilts to those in need:

Quilt Haus

You can find them on Facebook, and here is their original call for help, in case you aren't on Facebook,

HURRICANE HARVEY RESPONSE: #HarveyHelp
Our wonderful charity quilting group, HUGS, , has always responded quickly and effectively to urgent needs in our region. We supplied literally HUNDREDS of quilts and blankets to evacuees and victims of Hurricane Katrina, the Bastrop fires, etc.
We are now setting up a response to the continuing devastation on the Texas coast, from Corpus to Rockport, and continuing to the heart-wrenching developments in Houston.
WANT TO HELP? (PLEASE??!!) We are accepting donations of fabric, quilt tops, orphan blocks, backing fabric, batting, gently used quilts, and even cash donations to supply as many quilts as we can, as quickly as we can, to those displaced and suffering from this disaster. We also welcome ALL long-arm quilters familiar with HandiQuilter machines to use our machines in the shop to quilt the tops we have. Quilt binders will be needed, too! As well as people willing to machine wash the finished quilts and add a HUGS label to them. All efforts and contributions will be enormously appreciated.
We ask that you please consider giving of your time, talent, and treasure to help those who are so adversely affected by this historic event. Our classroom and HQ machines will be available for HARVEY HELP from Monday - Thursday this week for anyone who wants to donate their time to this worthy effort. Thank you, from our hearts. Warm and comforting HUGS to all.

Details

When Hurricane Katrina hit and people were being sent to Austin I was one of the first people to show up at the Convention Center to help them. I quickly joined the Red Cross and worked nonstop with them for weeks. I had to do something. This was pre-Craft Hope and I felt helpless.

I have friends who are still trapped in their homes in Houston as I type this. They are flooded in and have been now for days. I have prayed relentlessly for them and thousands others who are also trapped and/or last their homes already. The videos and photos are the saddest, but we can help. We can do something and that something will matter to someone -- or lots of someones.

Here comes Project 30 :: Quilts for Houston! I'm asking that you spread the word on this one so we can get as many as possible.

Project details:

All items MUST be handmade
Quilts
Crocheted/Knitted Blankets
We need blankets of all sizes - from baby blankets to quilts that will fit an adult or two

Right now there is no deadline on this project. I know quilts are one of the greatest crafting labors of love and you guys have all of the time you need to get them made. I will make sure they get delivered.

I've partnered with one of my friends who is flooded in her house and can't leave. Once the floodwaters recede we will meet up and take them to a local fire department so that the local firemen can donate them for us to families who lost their homes.

There is a delicate system of checks and balances when it comes to natural disasters and donations and I want to guarantee they go to the right folks who need them.

Please join us in making quilts and blankets of all sizes for the victims of that big bully Hurricane Harvey.

Mail them to me at:
1130 Masquerade Dr.
Midlothian, TX

USA

The Linus Connection

You can find their website HERE with info and updates. THIS POST has specific info regarding donations. They are also on Instagram (@thelinusconnection).

They deliver quilts to children only, so something to consider depending on the finished size of your quilt(s) - guidelines for sizes are listed in the image below or on their site, including mailing address.

Here is what you might see going around social media:

 Other Quilty Donations

If you don't have finished quilts to donate, but would like to contribute other supplies, quilt blocks, fabric for backing, binding, batting, or money to help pay for shipping costs, AND/OR your TIME there are options for you as well!!

I have teamed up with Melinda (@mel_is_a_swapaholic on Instagram), and you an email us at QuiltsforHarvey{at}gmail{dot}com and let us know what you have and what you are willing to contribute. Please include in the subject line which items you're willing to donate (see the list below). It will help us sort through the emails. :)

Here are all the things we are collecting (mostly Melinda is collecting things, she is seriously AMAZING!!!):
  • Quilt Blocks: any bright colored 10 inch (finished- 10.5 inch unfinished) Half Square Triangle blocks
  • Orphan quilt blocks
  • Batting
  • Backing fabric
  • Binding fabric
  • Thread
  • Long arm/quilting services*
  • Quilt tops*
  • Partial Quilts
  • Shipping expenses - to get the finished quilts to Texas

Is anyone else who is collecting quilts and blocks? Please let us know. We would love to join forces with you!

"Thank you in advance for any and all help. Ive had so many people offer to help. I'm completely overwhelmed!"-Melinda

Most recent update from Mel (8/30/17):
"I've spent several hours taking inventory of everything that people have said they are donating and sending my way. (Still working as I type this out.) We have lots of partial and complete quilt tops as well as multiple blocks coming. We are in need of backing fabric, binding, thread and money to ship the quilts to Texas. If you can donate any fabric, please DM me and I will send you my address. If you cannot send fabric, but would still like to help, you can send money via PayPal to QuiltsforHarvey{at}gmail{dot}com #QuiltsforHarvey"

* I will be coordinating quilt tops with those who offer their quilting services. PLEASE INCLUDE:
  • If donating quilt tops: how many quilt tops you have to donate, and if you have backing and binding fabric to go with it.
  • If donating quilting services: how many quilts you'd be willing to quilt, so we don't send too many your way.

You can email us at QuiltsForHarvey{at}gmail{dot}com

Monetary donations to help pay for shipping quilts to Texas can be sent to the same address. ("Any money leftover after the quilts have been shipped to their new Texas homes will be sent to local animal shelters that have taken in animals who were abandoned during the floods.")

Thank you!!

Side Note:

As I put out the call to help, and as I've contacted others to work with them, while my desire to help and give is tremendous, my biggest concern has also been for those who are helping us out on the receiving end of the finished quilts and donation items. Especially since I am not in Texas and able to help directly, I don't feel like it's my place to send a bunch of "work" for someone else to take care of. It's been in the forefront of my mind to consider the time and effort will be needed to make this process smooth and enjoyable. I have no way of knowing what help will be there to help finish quilts, and do not want to overwhelm anyone with more projects than they can possibly handle.

The people, quilts shops, and organizations in Texas have stepped up in tremendous ways to help and donate and be a part of the process. But we must be careful to remember that they also have families and homes, and are also in the midst of the chaos that is going on along the gulf coast at the moment. With that in mind, please consider the following:

In an effort to be as helpful as possible and lessen the burden of those on the receiving end, please try and finish as much as possible your quilts so that we can more evenly distribute the work among us. I know there are some steps that we simply cannot do on our own, and that is why we have each other! Do not let this stop you from donating, but perhaps before you send a huge stack of orphan blocks, or fabric scraps, ask yourself, "could I bring these any closer to a finished quilt before I send them???" and do your best to try! The more we can do, the quicker these groups will be able to finish the quilts and get them in the hands of those who need them! Rather than bombarding them with more WIPs than they can physically and mentally handle.

That being said, if you have things to donate at any level of the process, we ARE asking for them! So please contact us and let us know what you have and we will send you an address to send them to! :)

OTHER RESOURCES

I want to share a few more resources that I have come across to provide aid to any in need! Hopefully this info will find itself in the hands of those who need it:

  • JustServe.org: Do you want to be on the ground helping? Check out Just Serve.org and you can find needs in your area. They have a special link for helping in Houston and the surrounding area.
  • Please share this information with anyone in our community who needs assistance.
Our church, along with numerous others, currently have a hotline available to submit work orders for specific need requests related to the damages and for cleanup efforts. By calling the hotline number, a volunteer will take down the information you need and create a work order and then attempt to send a volunteer crew out to help. This includes removing carpet, cutting down tree limbs, etc.

Obviously there's still difficulty getting crews into the neighborhood, but this will allow us to start the rebuilding process, and they will come as they are able. The volunteer groups will come from the LDS Mormon Helping Hands, Catholic Charities, Etc.

Hotline numbers:
800-451-1954

Thank you so much for your help! For your huge response to the #QuiltsforHarvey request! And for simply being awesome!! I love this quote, and have been so blessed to witness so many of the helpers step to the call to action to help!! Thank you!!
"When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say, 'Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.' To this day, especially in times of disaster, I remember my mother's words, and I am always comforted by realizing that there are still so many helpers so many caring people in this world." Fred Rogers
Thank you for being the helpers!!!

Quilting for a Cause + Quilts for Orlando

Hey ya'll!! How's it going?! I totally got side tracked yesterday, but in a good way. I'm super excited to tell you about what's going on, and I hope you'll join in!

If you've been around my blog awhile, you may have seen this button on my sidebar

from blank pages...

I created this group, Quilting for a Cause, yeeeeears ago on Flickr. It was an awesome group!!

Whenever someone wanted to make a quilt for someone in need, whether their own neighbor or friend, or an entire community, they would post in the group what they were making. They would include the block, size, colors, etc - basically all the requirements, and how many blocks they needed. Then anyone who was able to make a block, or a few, at the time would volunteer and send in the block(s), and they would make a quilt! People also volunteered quilting services, and more as needed.

There was no commitment to be in the group, but it worked out great because if you ended up having a free weekend, or some extra time to sew, or needed to work on something else for a minute, you could pop in the group and help someone with their quilt(s).

It was also great because the person in need of some help, had a huge pool of people to ask for help from! Sometimes I have a great idea of making a quilt for someone, but I quickly realize that there is no way I could get it finished in time. In steps this group! Suddenly I don't have to do it on my own, and we come together as the awesome quilting community that we are! The second best part of the group was just seeing all the quilts that people were making.

Maybe we feel helpless in helping others in need, but we can always make quilts!

When Flickr changed the platform and the quilting community on there fizzled out, the group died with it. With the recent tragedy in Orlando, I realized that while the group on Flickr may have died, the need for quilts, and help in making those quilts, has not died.

I realized it is time to bring this group back from the dead! And I'm hoping that Facebook is the place to do it!

I created a Facebook group which you can join, and either ask for help in making one quilt or lots of quilts, or offer to help make blocks for someone else.

I think it's pretty amazing to be able to warm the heart of one in need with a quilt. And what a powerful message of love to be able to tell them that people from all over the world helped to make that quilt! It makes me tear up just thinking about it.

If you would like to join the group, you can here:

Notice that in the url, there is the number "4" in place of "for".

Please help spread the word about the group!! The more people that are in it, the more quilts we'll be able to make!! Tell all of your quilting friends! And you can even add people to the group!

There is more info in the group, if you haven't seen it already. But the Orlando Modern Quilt Guild is asking for quilts for the victims and families of the Pulse shooting. You can also read more info HERE.

I of course couldn't help myself and designed a scrappy heart quilt that I'd love to make to donate! Here is a rough draft of what it will look like

I'll have the pattern ready to send out today. But I want to get an idea of how many people are going to help out so I can make assignments, and stay organized.

If you would like to make a block, or a few, that would be awesome!! To help me keep everything straight, please join the group and comment on the picture so I know who's in. If you're not on Facebook, of course you can still help! Leave a comment, or better yet, send me an email. But it will be easier for me to make sure I don't miss someone if everyone is in one spot.

The deadline for finished quilts is in September, so to allow time for assembling the blocks and quilting, I'm going to ask that all blocks get sent in by the middle or end of July. I'll post more details in the group soon.

Thank you so much!!

A Week of Finishes: Bee Blocks Quilt

This  is one of my original 1st Quarter FAL projects. You can find the original post with all the projects here. I'll be linking this up at She Can Quilt here.

from blank pages...

A Week of Finishes is all about blogging and finally sharing the things I have finished. I hope you'll join me! The linky will be open until Monday night, March 4th.
Oops about yesterday! I do have finishes, but yesterday turned into a day of paying bills, going on a walk, budgeting, and going out to dinner with the hubby's work! (so fun! yet so much driving) Anyway, here's to another day and another finish! :)

from blank pages...
As a part of Quilting For A Cause, I volunteered a while ago to accept a bunch of other people's orphan bee blocks and make quilts with them. Unfortunately it's taken me a long time just to get this one put together. I have plans for the others and hope to get them done soon. (Assembling blocks is fast enough, but for some reason I seem to stall at the point of basting. Maybe now that I've recently been basting so many quilts, I'll remember how quick it really is and stop stalling.) ;)

So anyway, these blocks are from Melinda, and I think they go together SO well! I really love how this quilt turned out. And I especially love the binding and how it really brings out the beautiful blues that are in all the blocks. (I'm a sucker for blues and greens).

I quilted it with very simple straight line quilting, which I really like. I still need to wash this one, so we'll see how it looks when it comes out, but I am definitely pleased with this.

Now to find it a good home for someone to love. :)

Go ahead and link up your finishes! :) It'll be open until Monday night. Don't forget to link back here in your post so others can join the fun. HOORAY for finishes! :)

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!! :)

Stockings of Cheer!

stocking button

Kristy, over at Hopeful Threads hosts a monthly sew project every  month. I saw her project for this month, and just had to share it! She's hosting Stocking of Cheer! for Children's Hospital. Basically, you make a stocking and donate it to your local children's hospital for those children that will be in the hospital over the holidays. You can also stuff it full of goodies before you drop it off. ;)

If you don't have a local hospital, which I don't know that I do, you can also send a stocking, or stocking stuffers to Kristy or Dona of Sewing Miles of Smiles.

How great is that?! Anyway, I wanted to share this in case your are interested. :) I'm all for supporting a good cause. If you have other good causes you are hosting, or know about, (or any events for that matter) you can share them in the Mark Your Calendar linky, or the Flickr Group. Or if it's quilting/sewing related, share it in the Quilting for a Cause group! There are many willing hands out there!

Help Make Quilts for Hurricane Sandy Victims

I don't know if you've stopped by Quilting for A Cause lately, or perhaps some other groups on Flickr. But there is a new group, Hurricane Sandy Help, looking for some help in making quilt blocks. It's a fairly simple pattern, and I think it will look rather nice. The tutorial for the quilt block can be found here. Jennifer needs the blocks by Nov 25th so she can make the quilts and take them to NJ in December. You do need to go to the flickr group and sign up so she knows you are making blocks.

Hurricane blocks
These are two that FlickrDeb50 made (hope you don't mind!! She's a sweetie, so I'm sure she won't since it's for a good cause) ;) Aren't these great?!

Go here to find out more details about Hurricane Sandy Help.

There are also a few other people who have started threads for quilts for Hurricane Sandy as well. (Like this awesome design (GO SEE IT! IT'S AWESOME!) that one quilt guild is going to make to raffle for the Red Cross - she needs blocks by the 13th) If you are willing and able to help out, please do! :)

And of course there are other calls for help in the group too, so I hope you will stop by and help where you can. :)

Candy Land Quilt Progress!

Can you believe this quilt has taken me so long? Ok, I can. But still. I am SO happy to at least have the top done! It will be complete once I get back from the Sewing Summit! This quilt is the do.Good Stitches quilt from February (hanging my head in shame), from the Harmony Circle. The pattern is the Candy Land quilt, and I have a tutorial for each block style that can be found here. The measurements are for 1 or 2 blocks, not the whole quilt, so this is great if you want to use it for a quilting bee, or where multiple people will be contributing blocks.

Man, what an awesome group of girls we had! I still miss them and wish I could be back sewing with them some days. :) Rachel finally sent me a message last month giving me the kick in the butt I needed to get going on this. Trust me, this has been at the top of my list, or 5 lists, for months and months! Thanks Rachel for the welcomed nagging. ;) I needed it. I guess I'm good at skipping around on my lists... Anyway, I think this is the ONLY thing I worked on in September (darn that feeling sick!).

Coming together. And loving it!

I finished the top Sunday morning and had fun taking pictures! They don't give a super clear picture of what it actually looks like in normal light (except the first picture), but I LOVE the "stained glass" look. :)

DSC_0904
The softest, lightest blocks went in the middle, with the darker blocks around the outside. I think my two straight blocks actually ended up being the darkest. oops. I'm super impressed with how well they all go together!

DSC_0913

DSC_0933
I think it's interesting how all the different columns look with the sun light behind the quilt. Everyone ironed their strips just a little bit differently and it makes it look like the columns are different widths. They really are all the same!

DSC_0943

Everyone did such an excellent job! I really had no problems lining up all the different blocks, and they all match great! I'm so glad that my tutorial really did work since I was the last one to use it!! lol.
Thanks to all the wonderful ladies who helped me!! I can't wait to quilt this!! :)

Did you know???

If you linked your blogger account to Google+ that you are probably a no-reply blogger and didn't even know it?! Yep! I found out last week that I was. I searched the web universe as well as google+ to see how to change that, but alas, there was no luck. The only instructions I could find to become a reply-blogger again was to unlink my Google+ account. And that's what I did.

I have noticed in the last few weeks that some other bloggers have also become no-reply bloggers, of whom I know were not so earlier. You may want to check it out! I think part of the reason why I didn't know is because the bloggers I comment on, and who have replied back to me have my email address anyway, so I have no idea when this change took place. If it's something recent that google did, or if it happened right when I linked my profile.

If you want to comment on my post, I would be more than happy to let you know if you are or aren't. If you don't hear back from me in email, check back here and I'll tell you in the comments. If I have your email anyway, then I'll go ahead and email you and confirm either way. It's kind of annoying to just find out now. To think of all those awesome giveaways I've entered. :( boohoo. ;) lol.

I just wanted to give you the heads up in case you are concerned about that. A HUGE thanks to Mike for letting me know!

In other news, I officially have the worst phone camera ever. Everyone has such beautiful pictures on Instagram, and mine are poop. Ok, not always, but they are not as nice as I wish they were. Oh well. Continuing with my potty-mouth pictures. ;)
Playing with something new. Because it's not like I don't have enough on my plate already. ;)
see what I mean?! lol. talking about the quality, not the fabrics.

I decided to start something new today. It was one of those days. One of those days that I need some beautiful Lou Lou Thi to cheer me up. This has been sitting in my stash for a while, and I think I have the perfect pattern to use this in. If it doesn't turn out, I'll just close my eyes and pretend that it looks like Denise's. She's going to have to wash that quilt ever day with how much I'm drooling over it. ;) Her quilt is what made me finally decide that I love this fabric line. It's perfect! I'm also excited because it's been getting rather chilly here. A strange phenomenon for me being from the high desert mountains of Utah, and that it's still the middle of August. But it's nice because it makes me want to snuggle under a soft beautiful quilt, and I have yet to finish a snuggle quilt for myself. This will be my end of summer/fall treat. ;)

I have some very sad news. But I'm not ready to share that yet. Stay tuned, and perhaps be ready to comment. But you'll have to wait. I'm still crying and dreaming and wishing, and not ready to let go yet.

I did finish the fasted quilt top ever!

Orphan blocks from Melinda = baby quilt for Quilting for a Cause + 100 Quilts for Kids. Love these colors.
It's not actually sewn together in this photo, but it is sewn together now.

These blocks were donated to me by Melinda. They are beautiful! I think I'm going to put a large sashing around these, and then find a fun way to quilt it. This is for Quilting for a Cause and 100 Quilts for Kids. I keep getting more blocks in the mail and it's awesome! I've got some creative ideas going around in my head for what I want to do with them all. But I need more solid fabric... or bigger cuts that coordinate. Anyone want to donate some fabric?! :) I can tell you what colors I need. :) heehee.

I've also done some clean up on the home front. Ok, blog front. I put all my buttons on a new button page. You can find the link on the top of my page with all the tabs. My computer has been so SLOW lately, and then after I started putting that page together I realized that it's Safari that is slowing my computer down so bad. Now that I'm in Firefox, it's as fast as a dream. But I don't love firefox on the Mac. Oh well. ... Anyway, the page is up, and there's a bit less on my sidebar. I still need to figure out what to do with some of the stuff on the bottom, and some of it will be changing soon anyway...

I also cleaned out my email inbox finally! I'd say going from 2,600+ emails to 776 is quite an accomplishment. lol. I blame it on moving and no internet. ;) If you are waiting for a response from a blog comment, I'm sorry but I don't think it will come. Please leave another comment... I am starting over and hoping to do better. All the comments in my inbox were just too overwhelming to feel like I could ever respond to them. Plus I don't know if that would be weird to get a "thanks" from a comment you left three months ago.  lol. :)

Want to know what you can look forward to this week... a very cool project that I am SO excited for. I am dying to share it with you and really hope you'll like it. It will also include a bit of a tutorial, so stay tuned, that is on Thursday. I also have a bit of a modification to make to the linky party, so I hope it will be a little more inviting for people to join in on, and I think it will be a little more fun as well. Thursday is going to be a busy day around here! I haven't forgotten other projects and such either, it's just bee busy outside of my blogging/sewing universe as well. Sorry about any delays in things you are expecting/waiting for... but that's just how it goes sometimes. ;)

Anyway, my one time only Monday Update is now over. lol. :)
I hope you all have a wonderful week!

100 Quilts for Kids meets Quilting for a Cause

Can you believe that there are already 98 members in the Quilting for a Cause group?! I love this quilting community! You all are awesome!! :) THANK YOU! (there are already a lot of beautiful blocks in the group pool for Marika too. It's so exciting! :)

Swim, Bike, Quilt

Last night I was browsing Flickr and noticed Katie's picture for her annual 100 Quilts for Kids event. You make a quilt, donate it, share pictures in the flickr group, win prizes. It's a fun event for a great cause.

Well it made me think about Melinda who said she has extra Bee blocks she won't be using. A few other people chimed in with blocks too, and I have been wondering what we could combine them for. Well, I think 100 Quilts for Kids is the perfect excuse to use them!

I am volunteering to collect everyone's blocks and turn them into quilts. If you have even one extra block that you have lying around, will you stop by this discussion and let me know?! If you comment on this post to volunteer I'm going to ask you to go there anyway (so make sure you go there too). It will be easier for me to keep track of everyone who wants to help and not miss sending my address to someone who comments elsewhere.

If you want to help put blocks together too, come say so, I'm happy to get all the help I can!

Thanks in advance!!

Quilting for a Cause

I mentioned that Marika is looking for some help to make a quilt for someone. I was chatting with her today about it and got the idea to start up a flickr group exactly for this purpose! It only took about 15 min to put together, plus sending out a lot of invites, but it's up!

Basically, if you are making a quilt for someone and would like some help, join the group, start a discussion letting us know what you're wanting to make and what you need, and perhaps some info on who it's for. Then anyone willing to help can comment and help you.

If you like to sew blocks, then join the group and as people post quilts they want help with, you can sign up for as many or as few as you'd like! It's a nice alternative to a quilting bee since there isn only the commitment you sign up for. And I like that there is the potential of knowing exactly who all the quilts are for, since we'll be able to share stories, rather than just handing them over to Project Linus for instance (which is still so awesome, but you don't always know who it's going to).

Anyway, I would LOVE LOVE love it if you stopped over and joined the group! And if you would help spread the word! I know there are a lot of people out there that love to quilt and donate blocks, but I don't know everyone and would love your help. :)

Thanks a million!!
